No. Anki is free and open-source software for desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux) and Android. AnkiWeb (web sync) is also free. AnkiMobile for iPhone is the only paid version ($24.99 one-time) but is not required to use Rekona.
AnkiConnect is a free Anki plugin that exposes a local API so external tools — like the Rekona Chrome extension — can add cards to Anki while it's running in the background. You install it once through Anki's built-in add-on manager using the code 2055492159. After that it runs silently and requires no configuration.
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through Paddle, which provides a self-serve customer portal. You can cancel, pause, or switch plans at any time — no emails, no phone calls, no retention loops. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your paid period.
Decks are currently available for: 🇮🇹 Italian, 🇫🇷 French, 🇪🇸 Spanish, 🇩🇪 German, 🇸🇦 Arabic, 🇯🇵 Japanese. The Chrome extension and Anki add-on support 20+ languages including Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Russian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Swedish, and more. New deck languages are added regularly — join the waitlist to be notified.
When you sign up, you choose one language. You'll get the A1 deck for that language for free, and the Chrome extension can translate into that language. To switch languages or add a second one, upgrade to the Basic plan (3 languages) or Pro (all languages).
Yes. Rekona never touches your payment details. All billing is handled by Paddle, a PCI DSS-compliant merchant of record. Paddle processes payments, issues invoices, and handles VAT — your card number is never stored on our servers.
Your A1 deck is waiting — no credit card, no commitment.
